- One of the most populous neighborhoods in Commune I, with 103,712 residents at the 2009 census.
- Founded around 1896-1898 by Saleh Diallo, a Fulani seasonal worker from the Bougouni region.
- The name is said to come from the Coni stream, bordered by a tree called "ban" (raffia) in Bambara.
- Home to the Cheick Chérif Ousmane Madani Haïdara Grand Mosque, opened in 2013.
